...if he has to shine some light to see the yokai,how come everyone else can't see it?it's not like glasses where it'd make sense,he shines a light in a general direction,yet he's the only one able to see them because a watch?wouldn't shining a ray expose it in the open?

I think the light is just an effect for viewers the show nate looking through the lens.

Well, they did say nate has the ability to see them. Maybe you need that to see them with yokai watch.
