mighty no. 9isn't megaman,...may be made by the same guy,and it's a "spiritual successor"but it isn't the same universe.
any game can be a spiritual successor by it's controls and genre,but that doesn't qualify it as part of the game series

Since this is the Mega Man community, here's what my IRL friend and I agree on for the Mega Man timeline:
Mega Man 1-10, Mega Man X 1-5, Mega Man Zero 1-4, Mega Man ZX, Mega Man ZX Advent, and Mega Man Legends 1-2 (sadly 3 was cancelled). Mega Man Battle Network and Mega Man Star Force are their own separate canons.
My IRL friend and I say Mega Man X 6-8 didn't happen, and I think Inafune felt the same way about it, because he intended to have the Mega Man Zero games come right after Mega Man X5.

But how could they not have happened?

How could Zero repair himself? He was literally just a head, a torso and an arm, for crying out loud. And three weeks have passed since his death, so I highly doubt he could have repaired himself in that much time in his condition.

Maybe someone helped him then.
